Meet the Marina
Since assuming direct management of the Port Angeles Boat Haven and Boat Yard, the Port has successfully reorganized and expanded its marina team to support both the Port Angeles Boat Haven, Boat Yard and John Wayne Marina. By bringing together experienced leadership and dedicated staff, we are strengthening operations, enhancing customer service, and ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient management across both facilities. We are excited to introduce the key leaders of our marina team, whose combined experience will help build an even stronger future for our marinas and the maritime community we serve.
RON AMUNDSON
MARINA OPERATIONS MANAGER
Ron has been with the Port of Port Angeles for 30 years, bringing extensive experience from the log yard, facilities maintenance, and both Assistant Harbormaster and Harbormaster roles at John Wayne Marina. A true jack of all trades, Ron now leads operations as Marina Operations Manager, overseeing John Wayne Marina, the Port Angeles Boat Haven, and Boat Yard.
STEVE FELTON
PORT ANGELES BOAT HAVEN HARBORMASTER
A Port Angeles local, Steve has spent more than 30 years on the water. After graduating from California Maritime Academy, he began his maritime career on oil tankers before spending the next 27 years working on tugboats. Now, he’s excited to bring his decades of experience ashore and join the Port team.
MIKE SIMONS
PORT ANGELES BOAT YARD LEAD
Born and raised in Port Angeles, Mike has been with the Port for four years. With a career as a fabricator, welder, and mechanic, he brings a wealth of hands-on expertise in travel lift operations, equipment maintenance, and marine mechanics.
JAMIE GAUGHAN
JOHN WAYNE MARINA HABORMASTER
Jamie is a graduate of Maine Maritime Academy, where she studied Maritime Transportation Operations with a minor in Business and Logistics. After graduation, she kicked off her maritime career in the yachting industry before spending two years as a Project Manager at Platypus Marine.
Terminal 3 – Q Yacht
Terminal 3 serves as the Port’s primary cargo terminal; handling forest products bound for international markets and loading ocean log barges destined for domestic mills. The terminal also supports the shipment and discharge of a wide range of general cargo and serves as the Port’s heavy-lift pier, accommodating cranes up to 200 tons.
Last month, Terminal 3 welcomed the Q, an ice-breaking multipurpose support vessel that has been transformed into a luxury expedition yacht. Accompanying the vessel was a wide collection of water toys and vehicles, including its 54-foot sport-fishing boat, the Q-Tip. With assistance from our tenant, Platypus Marine, the Q-Tip was safely launched while the Q remained docked.
