Log Yard Operator

DESCRIPTION

The Port of Port Angeles is seeking qualified candidates for the union eligible position of Log Yard Operator. To perform the duties of this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. · Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and five years of responsible experience in running heavy equipment and log handling operations. · Machinery and Tool Experience: Ability to proficiently operate Wagner and Letourneau log stackers, hydraulic grapple log loader and front wheel loaders. Ability to proficiently operate a forklift, water truck and chainsaw. One must also be able to use basic hand tools such as a hammer, shovel, rake, etc. · Language and Mathematical Skills: Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other Port employees. Superb internal and external customer service skills. The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. The position may involve some bookkeeping duties relating to log inventory. Basic computer and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) skills are a plus. · Teamwork: Ability to get along with and learn from others. Willingness to be flexible in work assignments. Must be a problem solver and display mechanical aptitude. Must be able to work under time constraints and comply with OSHA/WISHA regulations. Ability to apply common sense understanding and objectively evaluate situations. Ability to meet or exceed organization’s attendance and punctuality standards. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Airport Manager

DESCRIPTION

The Port of Port Angeles is seeking individuals interested in applying for the position of Airport Manager. The Airport Manager will manage, promote and market the operations of two general aviation airports in accordance with local, state and federal guidelines and regulations. This position is expected to routinely interface with tenants, users and the public. Oversees the execution of capital improvements and small works at the airport, coordinating with the Port’s Public Works manager to address issues that arise. Works closely with other management staff and the general public in meeting Port established goals and in serving the needs of the diverse public. Preferred Work Experience: At least 5 years of mid-level management responsibility in analyzing complex issues and with decision- making authority. At least 5 years of operational experience and responsibility at a commercial/general aviation airport. Experience in a wide-variety of industries that are relevant to general Port activity.
