2026 June Port Report

Jun 16, 2026

By Michaela Fujita-Conrads, Port of Port Angeles

Log Yard Stormwater Improvements

The Port is making important improvements to the Log Yard in order to protect Port Angeles Harbor. Our goal is to reduce industrial stormwater runoff and remove pollutants that can impact water quality and natural resources.

As part of this effort, we are constructing a stormwater treatment system designed to capture and treat runoff before it reaches the harbor. The upgraded site will be raised, regraded, and paved to improve drainage and infrastructure maintenance.

Here are this month’s updates:

  • The demolition of the site asphalt and concrete is completed.
  • The debris from the demolition has been crushed and repurposed back into the site as a sub-fill.
  • The subgrading is in progress as the team lays geogrid material, and the Crushed Surfacing Base Course follows.

Fairchild Airport Taxiway Reconstruction

The Taxiway A reconstruction/rehabilitation project at CLM is being done to preserve, restore, and modernize the airfield pavement and infrastructure so the taxiway remains safe, reliable, and compliant with aviation standards.

Portions of Taxiway A have experienced wear over time, these rehabilitation measures like crack sealing, slurry sealing, and partial reconstruction are standard airport practices to ensure safe aircraft movement, better visibility and compliance with FAA standards. This project also includes new LED upgraded lighting and signage improvements, which enhance pilot guidance and overall airfield performance
