The Port is in the process of applying for funding under the State Community Economic Revitalization Board (CERB) Prospective Development Program. This potential funding would be used to assist in the improvements at the Cofferdam Barge Facility, located at the Port Log Yard in Port Angeles.
At the Port Commission Meeting scheduled for October 23, 2018 at 8:00 A.M., Port Administration Building, 338 W. First Street, Port Angeles, WA 98362, the Commissioners will consider Resolution 18-1182 authorizing the Executive Director to make a formal application to CERB for $1.2 Million of funding assistance.
CERB is a state board focused on economic development through job creation in partnership with local governments. The Board has the authority to finance public infrastructure improvements that encourage new private business development and expansion. In addition to funding construction projects, CERB provides limited funding for studies that evaluate high-priority economic development projects. http://www.commerce.wa.gov/building-infrastructure/community-economic-revitalization-board/cerb-application-page/
This proposed funding will assist the Port in the improvements of the Cofferdam Barge Facility. These improvements are required to maintain barge service at the Cofferdam. This service is used to transport logs, and raw materials needed for local, regional and international wood supply markets. Existing regional wood products mills will benefit from these improvements are key drivers of our local economy and they have the need and capacity to expand and create jobs.
